Sarasota, FL, (April 2018) – The Sarasota International Dragon Boat Festival will bring both competitive and recreational teams to Nathan Benderson Park on Saturday, April 21, 2018. This is the first year that the event is part of Major Dragon Boat (MLDB), a racing series that brings camaraderie and spirit with a competitive edge to 10 cities across North America organized by GWN Dragon Boat.
The festival will welcome 30 dragon boat teams looking to gain competitive experience by racing in a world-class sports facility. Everyone in the community is welcome to come cheer on the teams and discover the magic of 22 hearts beating as one. 
The day’s festivities are an opportunity to immerse the community in the culture and spirit of dragon boat racing, which dates back 2,500 years to ancient China. Beyond the competition on the water, festivalgoers can enjoy a bustling Vendor Village, Beer Garden, Food Truck Bazaar and a Mini Asian Festival presented by Asia Trend Magazine.
The event is in support of In the Pink, an organization dedicated to helping women heal, cope and survive the effects of cancer both physically and emotionally. “In the Pink is very proud to partner with GWN to host the dragon boat festival in Sarasota. Many of our breast cancer clients paddle on the local team and we are glad they are out in the water, exercising and enjoying life. Part of our mission is to help survivor’s feel good about themselves and exercising in nature certainly helps with that,” Jeri Millard, Founder & CEO, In the Pink.
