Cinema Paradiso to Show Three Japanese Films September 17, 19, 20 in “The Love in Japan Movie Screening” Series Presented by the Consulate-General of Japan in Miami

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (August 19, 2016) – The Consulate-General of Japan in Miami and Cinema Paradiso invite guests of all ages to experience “The Love in Japan Movie Screening” series, three Japanese films to be shown on September 17, 19 and 20 at the historic Fort Lauderdale theatre, located at 503 S.E. 6th Street.

Suitable for avid film aficionados and occasional moviegoers alike, the films are in Japanese with English subtitles and represent the common theme of young love. Admission is free for Cinema Paradiso members and $5 per person for non-members.

The screenings include:

Tsubaki Hibino (Emi Takei) is a plain and studious teen whose life has had little to do with love. That is, until she meets Kyota Tsubaki (Tori Matsuzaka), a cute and smart yet exceedingly cocky, long-haired boy who happens to be the most popular guy in school. From her first date to her first kiss, Tsubaki starts to discover and struggle with a whole new world of feelings that only come with discovering one’s first love.

Tsukasa (Keiko Kitagawa) is confined to a wheelchair and suffers from an impaired memory, but she doesn’t let these things stop her from leading a life filled with love and sports. Meanwhile, Masami (Ryô Nishikido) is a local taxi driver with a charming smile and a love for basketball. When the two meet, something clicks and they gradually fall in love.

City hall employee Kentaro (Hosino Gen) is terrible when it comes to socializing. Unable to even make friends, he spends his days going back and forth between home and his job. His worried parents participate in a matchmaking event where a marriage meeting is set up with Noako (Kaho), a blind girl.
