SUMMARY:The Indian Center at UCF: DISTINGUISHED LECTURE
DESCRIPTION:Join The India Center’s 2026 Distinguished Lecture \nPaul Rosen\, Ph.D. of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory will present an overview of NISAR\, the joint NASA-ISRO Earth‑observation mission that launched in July 2025. Designed to provide an unprecedented view of Earth’s land and ice surfaces\, NISAR is the first satellite to use dual‑frequency synthetic aperture radar\, NASA’s L‑band and ISRO’s S‑band\, to deliver high‑resolution\, all‑weather data with global coverage every 12 days. This mission represents a milestone in U.S.–India space collaboration\, marking the first time the two agencies have co‑developed hardware for an Earth‑observing satellite. NISAR’s openly accessible data will support advances in climate research\, disaster response\, agricultural monitoring\, and ecosystem science. Dr. Rosen will highlight how this partnership strengthens scientific innovation and deepens strategic ties between the United States and India\, demonstrating the global impact made possible through shared expertise and long‑term cooperation. \nModerated by College of Sciences Interim Dean Joshua Colwell \nPresented in collaboration with the Florida Space Institute and the UCF Space Council \n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n
