SUMMARY:Sart day - Wat Florida Dhammaram in Kissimmee
DESCRIPTION:Sart Day is traditionally the midyear merit-making event. On this day Buddhists dedicate their meritorious deeds to their deceased ancestors. There might be slight discrepancies of timing in different localities\, but usually it is celebrated on the tenth lunar month. \nSart day has been continuously preserved as a tradition in Southeast Asian countries\, such as Loa\, Thailand\, etc. We believe that our deceased ancestors may have an opportunity to encounter our generosity. This is an occasion for extending our gratitude; Katannu-katavedi. This gesture exemplifies the quality of our trained mind. Buddhists also perform a special ceremony\, called Pamsukula\, literally\, (offering) a yellow discarded robe\, dedicated to the deceased; after contemplating on the impermanence of all compounded things. \nThere is also a special way of offering requisites\, called salak-bhatta (random selection of things to offer). It is comparable to the usual way of offering to the community of the Sangha. It is a meritorious act that amplifies the good fortune of the generous mind. Wat Florida Dhammaram invites everyone to participate in this special event of merit making. \n\n10:30 am. Religious ceremony in the Uposatha Hale and offering alms food\n11:00 am. Repast\n01:00 pm. Delivery of semon.\n01:30 ρπ Offering up robe to the monks\, in memory of the descendants or ancestors (Pungsukuła).\n\nWat Florida Dhammara \n2424 Old Vineland Rd\, Kissimmee\, FL 34746\,\nTel. 407-397-9552\nwww.watfloridadhammaram.com\,\nwww.facebook/watforida\nwatfloridadhammaram@yahoo.com \n
