Tet Trung Thu\, as it is known in Vietnam\, or the Mid-Autumn Moon festival as we refer to it in America\, is customarily held on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month and is one of the two most important festivals in the Vietnamese culture. Steeped in tradition\, this ancient celebration revolves around children and is thought to be a time when parents had the opportunity to catch up with their loved ones after the busy summer harvest was completed. Families will enjoy learning about the Vietnamese culture through music\, stories\, dance\, arts and crafts and food. The event will conclude with lion dancers leading a children’s lantern parade. This event has received overwhelming response from local and distant communities alike.   Again this year\, Asia Trend Magazine is partnering with Mills 50 (an Orlando Main Street District)\, R.E.A.C.H. (Recognizing Educating Asian Cultural Heritage) and Y.E.S.S. Throughout these 31 years\, VASA has served to help the Vietnamese community within UCF and the Orlando area. The organization was first established as a place for Vietnamese refugees attending UCF. It served as pillar of unity for refugees to feel welcome\, safe\, and loved in a new foreign land. As the years passed\, VASA grew into an organization to promote Vietnamese cultural awareness as a newer generation of Vietnamese Americans emerged. Currently\, the Vietnamese American Student Association’s main goals are to promote cultural awareness and promote Vietnamese culture within the UCF community. We strive to instill pride and a sense of culture within Vietnamese Americans today. \nOur CPP (Collective Philanthropy Project): Pacific Links Foundation is a non-profit organization that helps fight against human trafficking by investing comprehensively in at-risk youths and their communities to prevent trafficking specifically in Vietnam\, but spreading world-wide. Their primary goal is to encourage sustainable development in Vietnamese communities through community building and knowledge transfer between professionals in Vietnam and in the developed world. DESCRIPTION:Due to Hurricane Irma influence\, the location for the venue of Chio-Tian Folk Drums Performance has been relocated to the “Asian Community Resources Centre\, 16320 NW 48th Ave.\, Miami Gardens\, FL 33014” at 7:00 PM on September 18th (Monday). \nChio-Tian Folk Drums & Arts Troupe has developed an unique style of incorporating folk music\, dance\, along with martial arts discipline to express the traditional Taiwanese culture in a performance that traditionally take place as part of religious ceremony in Temples.
