SUMMARY:VASA at UCF Presents: Tết Trung Thu - Mid-Autumn Moon Festival
DESCRIPTION:Tết Trung Thu\, also known as the Mid-Autumn Moon Festival\, is a Vietnamese festival that celebrates the end of the harvest season. The festival allowed parents to reunite with their children to eat mooncakes\, watch lion dances\, and see colorful lanterns. Today\, Tết Trung Thu continues to uphold the tradition of family togetherness as well as bringing happiness and joy to the kids through traditional customs. \nThe Vietnamese American Student Association at UCF is proud to present to you our annual Mid-Autumn Moon Festival also known as Tết Trung Thu. We’ll be having our event on Sunday\, November 5th\, 2017 in the Student Union at the Pegasus Ballroom. Doors will be opening at 5:30 and the show will begin at 6PM.  \nForget about your worries and gain a little knowledge by coming out to experience the Vietnamese culture along with other talents at UCF. Come and enjoy this momentous occasion with free food\, fun performances\, dances\, and skits! Everyone is invited to join\, hope to see you all there! \n————————–————————–————-\nAbout VASA:\nThe University of Central Florida’s Vietnamese American Student Association (VASA) was first established in December of 1982. Throughout these 31 years\, VASA has served to help the Vietnamese community within UCF and the Orlando area. The organization was first established as a place for Vietnamese refugees attending UCF. It served as pillar of unity for refugees to feel welcome\, safe\, and loved in a new foreign land. As the years passed\, VASA grew into an organization to promote Vietnamese cultural awareness as a newer generation of Vietnamese Americans emerged. Currently\, the Vietnamese American Student Association’s main goals are to promote cultural awareness and promote Vietnamese culture within the UCF community. We strive to instill pride and a sense of culture within Vietnamese Americans today. \nOur CPP (Collective Philanthropy Project): Pacific Links Foundation is a non-profit organization that helps fight against human trafficking by investing comprehensively in at-risk youths and their communities to prevent trafficking specifically in Vietnam\, but spreading world-wide. Their primary goal is to encourage sustainable development in Vietnamese communities through community building and knowledge transfer between professionals in Vietnam and in the developed world. We will be having a booth in the back of the event if you are interested or want more information!

SUMMARY:FSU's Mid-Autumn Festival 2017: Hosted by VSA CASO KASA
DESCRIPTION:Hello friends and family! This year’s Mid-Autumn Festival will be held on October 14th at Moore Auditorium. Doors will be opening at 6:30 and the event will be SEMI-FORMAL. \nIf you don’t know what Mid-Autumn is\, it is an inherited custom of moon sacrificial ceremonies. The ancient Chinese observed that the movement of the moon had a close relationship with changes of the seasons and agricultural production. Hence\, to express their thanks to the moon and celebrate the harvest\, they offered a sacrifice to the moon on autumn days. We would love if you came out and joined our family tradition! Enjoy free food\, refreshments\, entertainment\, and a great time! Can’t wait to see you there!

SUMMARY:UF CASA's Mid-Autumn Festival 2017: Sweet & Sour Memories of MA
DESCRIPTION:In China\, the fifteenth day of the eighth lunar month is known as Zhōngqiūjié (中秋節) — the Mid-Autumn Festival. Analogous to the United States’ Thanksgiving Day\, it is a time for family and friends to come together under the full moon for a night of celebration and reunion\, to give thanks for the harvest and to hope for continued blessings to come. \nThis year\, at the Chinese American Student Association’s Mid-Autumn Festival\, we seek to embrace and celebrate those same aspects of community with the friends and family we have all found at the University of Florida. We invite you to celebrate Mid-Autumn with us as we proudly showcase the diversity of Chinese and Chinese American cultures through food\, song\, traditional and modern dance\, skit/storytelling\, and performances! \nWe hope to see you there! \n☾ ☾ ☾ ☾ ☾ ☾ ☾ ☾ ☾ ☾ ☾ ☾ ☾ ☾ ☾ ☾ ☾ ☾ ☾ ☾ ☾ ☾ ☾ ☾ ☾ ☾ ☾ ☾ ☾ \n☽ Who: YOU and the Chinese American Student Association\n☽ What: Mid-Autumn Festival\n☽ When: SUNDAY\, OCTOBER 8TH at 6:00 PM\n☽ Where: J. Our arms are open to members of all races and ethnicities; we are not exclusively Asian or Chinese. CASA is guided by its overarching pillars of culture\, service\, and leadership. As a “for student\, by student” organization\, we want to enhance your college experience through activities such as dance\, sports\, volunteering or event planning\, and help you build your foundation as a student leader. Above all\, we will help you find a home and family. CASA’s logo is the Chinese character for “home/family” (家). CASA establishes itself as a home away from home for its members by fostering relationships among the members through camping trips\, after socials\, and the “Gege-Jiejie-Didi-Meimei” big-little pairing program.
