SUMMARY:The Indian Center at UCF: DISTINGUISHED LECTURE
DESCRIPTION:Join The India Center’s 2026 Distinguished Lecture \nPaul Rosen\, Ph.D. of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory will present an overview of NISAR\, the joint NASA-ISRO Earth‑observation mission that launched in July 2025. Designed to provide an unprecedented view of Earth’s land and ice surfaces\, NISAR is the first satellite to use dual‑frequency synthetic aperture radar\, NASA’s L‑band and ISRO’s S‑band\, to deliver high‑resolution\, all‑weather data with global coverage every 12 days. This mission represents a milestone in U.S.–India space collaboration\, marking the first time the two agencies have co‑developed hardware for an Earth‑observing satellite. NISAR’s openly accessible data will support advances in climate research\, disaster response\, agricultural monitoring\, and ecosystem science. Dr. Rosen will highlight how this partnership strengthens scientific innovation and deepens strategic ties between the United States and India\, demonstrating the global impact made possible through shared expertise and long‑term cooperation. \nModerated by College of Sciences Interim Dean Joshua Colwell \nPresented in collaboration with the Florida Space Institute and the UCF Space Council \n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n

SUMMARY:Art & Wellness: Meditation for Peace with Puja
DESCRIPTION:Cultivating inner stability and connection in an age of discomfort \n\n\n\n\nArt & Wellness Series: We are living in a time of rapid change. External systems that once felt steady – work\, technology\, relationships\, institutions – now feel uncertain. At the same time\, many of us are navigating increased isolation\, loneliness\, and disconnection. A healthy response to this collective discomfort is meditation. \nThis meditation is a monthly invitation toward inner stability and connectedness. The sessions blend ancient wisdom with modern mindfulness. Each gathering begins with a thoughtful\, interactive conversation about real-life experiences such as mental overload\, emotional reactivity\, sleep challenges\, and compassion fatigue\, followed by a guided meditation practice. \nThere is profound value in coming together to meditate\, especially in these times. Practicing in community reminds us of our shared humanity and helps normalize experiences often held in shame or self-blame. When we sit together\, perspectives widen\, and self-regulation organically creates co-regulation. \nThis is an invitation to reconnect – with yourself and with others. The intention is not to offer answers\, but to support your own inner wisdom and capacity for steadiness. \nThis space is especially welcoming for those who have “struggled” with meditation in the past. Bring an open mind and heart\, and feel free to bring a friend. \nPlease note: this is an alcohol-free event. \n*** \nAbout Puja Madan: \nPuja was born and raised in India and spent a decade working at tech startups while traveling all over India and Asia to learn different meditation techniques and spiritual philosophies. She is passionate about sharing Eastern wisdom and practices to cultivate inner peace and well-being\, especially in our busy lives. \nShe offers classes\, meditation retreats\, and digital programs. \nJoin us on second Wednesdays for Meditation for Peace with Puja Madan. Tickets are pay what you like.
