On October 28th and 29th, Consul General Junya Nakano attended the 47th Annual Southeast U.S (SEUS)/ Japan Joint Meeting, which was held in Tokyo. The SEUS-Japan Joint Meeting is held alternately every year in Tokyo and one of the seven states of the Southeast United States (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee), with a focus of promoting trade, commerce, investment, and friendly relations.

The Florida delegation, comprising more than 50 key representatives from local governments, companies, and organizations, enjoyed establishing and renewing ties between Japan and Florida, especially in the fields of aerospace, life sciences, quantum technologies, and infrastructure.

In his remarks at the closing ceremony, Consul General Nakano highlighted the tangible outcomes of Japan-Florida cooperation witnessed during the event, including the direct charter flights between Tokyo and Orlando next year operated by ZIPAIR, a joint statement to further deepen cooperation in the space sector, and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Florida Realtors and the Japan-America Real Estate Coalition Office (JARECO). Welcoming these developments as significant steps toward further collaboration, he reaffirmed the Consulate’s commitment to supporting stakeholders in fostering new business opportunities between the two regions.
