Walgreens International Dragon Boat Festival started with less than 40 dragon boat teams six years ago. It reached record high of 86 dragon boat teams this year. The festival continues with Friday Night Race which attracted close to 40 teams. This two-day Walgreens Orlando International Dragon Boat Festival attracts recreational and competitive teams from all over North America and has been the catalyst for many new team start-ups in the Orlando area. Puff from Miami won the Sport mixed Grand Final while The Capital Dragons won the Community mixed Grand Final.
Estimated $85,000 has been raised for the MD Anderson Cancer Center this year. More corporation teams, competitive teams and sponsors are expected to join next year. Next year festival is set for October 18, 2014. For more details about this festival, please visit www.gwndragonboat.com.
