Press release by Tzu Chi Foundation Orlando Service
In response to the Orange County Mayor’s Holidays community service projects, Tzu Chi Orlando, adhering to Tzu Chi’s Four Great Missions and Eight Dharma Seals, naturally chose to provide a Chinese lunch for Fire Station #30, which serves the community. The coordinator Sue-Sue Yang quickly planned the lunch menu and asked volunteers to help. Fire Station #30, located at 20 South Hastings Street, is only a short drive from the Tzu Chi Orlando office and has 42 firefighters who are usually divided into three shifts.
On December 3rd at 1 PM, volunteers dressed in our neat blue and white uniforms, gathered in the parking lot. Brayan, the head of Fire Department #30, then led us indoors. The fellow volunteers placed the Chinese vegetarian fried rice, fried noodles, spring rolls, sushi, and tableware on the table. Next, Acting Director Sue-Sue Yang and Public Relations Team member Wei Kuang Chang presented the Tzu Chi Monthly magazines, and introduced Tzu Chi’s spirit of love and its past assistance and services to the state and community. They also expressed gratitude to the Fire Department for their hard work in serving the local community and welcomed them to visit the Tzu Chi Orlando office. Brayan expressed their appreciation and support for Tzu Chi and thanked us for the Chinese lunch, saying that even enough for tonight’s dinners.
Caring for the community and building positive relationships. Although the exchange only lasted for a little over half an hour, the faces of volunteers all radiated joy afterward.
The Tzu Chi Orlando chapter is a local branch of the Tzu Chi Foundation, a global Buddhist-inspired non-profit organization focused on charity, medical care, education, and environmental protection. The Orlando Service Center is located at Orlando West Chinatown and coordinates local volunteer activities, community outreach, and disaster relief efforts in the region.
