Coming up next at Osceola Arts! Wonderful Journey: works by Prayong Deeying in the Studio Gallery from April 15 through June 4. Central Florida artist Prayong Deeying was born in Surin, Thailand. He is recognized as an accomplished artist in Thailand and in the United States exhibiting his art in the USA and internationally. Prayong moved to the US in 1974, receiving a Master’s Degree in Painting from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. In 1987, he relocated to Orlando, Florida to work as a preparatory artist for Walt Disney World. Now retired, Prayong exhibits his award-winning art throughout Florida. In 2011 he joined the faculty of Crealde School of Art, Winter Park Florida, where he enjoys teaching drawing and watercolor painting.
Preyong is a Board Member of the Buddhist Temple, Wat Florida Dhammaram, and represents the Thai community in the Asian American Heritage Committee of Central Florida. His artistic philosophy reflects that of Thai artist Silpa Bhirasri “I communicate with the sky and with the water, with the mountains and the plains, and I understand the meaning of the sound of the wind. In my imagination, I have the fire of lightning and the tenderness of my mother.”
A free and open-to-the-public “meet the artist” reception on Saturday, April 15 from 2pm to 5pm. For more information contact [email protected] or go to www.osceolaarts.org
