Galloping in Style at the St. Patrick’s Night Parade

2046

SACA (Suncoast Association of ChineseAmericans) dragon boat team celebrated St. Patrick’s Day on March 15, 2014 by participating in the Rough Riders’ St. Patrick’s night parade in downtown Ybor City (Tampa), Florida. This St. Patrick’s night parade was the largest in the southeast region. It’s like New Orleans style Mardi Gras in Florida! Over 20,000 people
crowed downtown Ybor City streets celebrating, partying and ready to catch beads thrown from the parade floats and escorts.

SACA dragon boat team was the first Asian group to participate in the St. Patrick’s night parade. The Chinese green dragon danced and wowed the crowd along the one and half mile route. The dragon boat in-tow was filled with thousands of beads necklaces that were thrown to the crowd throughout the night.   SACA was proud to celebrate this Irish day along their side.   It was a great night!
