The San Diego Chapter of the Formosa Association of Student Cultural Ambassadors (FASCA-SD) actively promoted Taiwanese culture this spring by participating in two important school events: Pacific Trails Middle School’s Culture Night and the Lewis Middle School Carnival. Over the course of April 24 and April 25, FASCA-SD members proudly introduced Taiwan’s rich traditions, food, and spirit to the greater San Diego community.

On April 24, FASCA-SD hosted a Taiwanese Culture Booth at Pacific Trails Middle School’s vibrant Heritage Culture Night. The booth featured two main sections: an informational display and a games station inspired by Taiwan’s lively night markets. The informational section highlighted Taiwan’s culture, politics, and traditions, with FASCA-SD members guiding visitors through a Q&A challenge that rewarded correct answers with stickers. In the games section, guests enjoyed activities such as cup pong, claw machines, and pinball machines, earning Taiwan-themed gifts upon completing all stations.

During breaks, FASCA-SD members visited other booths and cultural performances, broadening their appreciation for global diversity. “It was a wonderful experience to share our culture while learning about others,” said Conor Sung, the Project Leader. The event strengthened connections between Taiwanese and American communities while fostering leadership, service, and cultural pride among FASCA’s young ambassadors.

On April 25, FASCA-SD hosted a booth at the Lewis Middle School Carnival, offering authentic Taiwanese boba and a variety of beloved Taiwanese street foods. The booth was divided into four sections: local Taiwanese vendors served classic dishes like braised pork rice and Taiwanese cold noodles; FASCA-SD members sold boba, milk tea, and winter melon tea; and FASCA-SD parents offered hot dogs and Taiwanese sausages.

At beverage station of FASCA-SD , FASCA-SD members worked non stop — scooping ice, preparing fresh boba, pouring teas, serving customers, and handling cash — while others advertised throughout the venue. Their teamwork paid off: boba drinks sold out within the first hour, highlighting the huge popularity of Taiwanese beverages among local families. Many attendees also sampled winter melon tea for the first time, quickly falling in love with its refreshing taste.

Through these activities, FASCA-SD continued to embody their core values of Leadership, Service, Culture, and Inheritance, proudly sharing their Taiwanese heritage while building stronger community connections.
