In observance of World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development on May 21, SPIFFS and the Friends of the Sunshine Center are joining together to celebrate Asian-American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month and also Older Americans Month in a multi-cultural festival. World Day is a day set aside by the United Nations as an opportunity to deepen our understanding of the values of cultural diversity.
A variety of ethnic foods will be available for sale – Indian, Thai, Japanese, African-American, Chinese, German, Jamaican, Colombian, Panamanian and more. Folk music and dance will be performed by Russian, Serbian, German, Dominican, Panamanian, Bulgarian and several other groups. Crafters and non-profit groups will also be part of the festivities.
