Commissioner Thompson Hosting Backpack Giveaway Event

Orange County District 4 Commissioner Jennifer Thompson is hosting her Fifth Annual Back to School event on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at the Meadow Woods Recreation Center located on 1751 Rhode Island Woods Circle, Orlando, FL, from 11:00am-2:00pm. The goal of this event is to provide students and their families with the tools and resources necessary to have a successful school year.

Over 700 backpacks filled with school supplies will be distributed Saturday. Orange County departments will be on hand, as well as local businesses educating citizens about important services. Orange County Health Department will be providing free Immunizations, accompanied with child’s proof of ID and immunization record.

Backpack Giveaway“This community always comes together when there is a need,” says Thompson. “There are still families who are struggling to make ends meet and this will help make the students transition a smooth start into the new school year.”
