Mr. Shyh-Kwei Chen, Minister of the Overseas Community Affairs Council, Republic of China (Taiwan), arrived in Miami on August 31st and was warmly welcomed with a dinner party hosted by the local Chinese community. During the dinner, Chen promised to provide better services and support to the overseas Chinese community.

During his visit, Minister Chen paid visits to the Coral Springs Chinese Cultural Association and the On Leong Merchants Association – Miami Chapter. The Coral Springs Chinese Cultural Association gave the Minister a tour of their facility and briefed him of their work. In return, Minister Chen presented a special appreciation scroll to the Association for their long-term service to the community.

Minister Chen also visited the On Leong Merchants Association – Miami Chapter where he emphasized On Leong Merchants Association’s long history and important contributions as an overseas organization. After making a traditional donation, the Minister also presented a special appreciation scroll to the Association. He urged closer cooperation to better the welfare of the overseas Chinese together.

During his stay in Miami, the Minister also hosted a seminar for Chinese community leaders to exchange views on cultural heritage, the promotion of overseas Chinese language teaching, and having the younger generation participate in community events.

Miami is one of the Minister’s stops in his travels before returning to Taiwan.
