47th Annual St. Petersburg International Folk Fair

After a two-year hiatus, the St. Petersburg International Folk Fair is back with a variety of cultural activities for all ages. The Consulate General of Japan is proud to be part of this exciting event.

The Consulate General of Japan in Miami is pleased to announce its participation, representing Japan, at the 47th Annual St. Petersburg International Folk Fair taking place on October 22nd from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Albert Whitted Park, 480 Bayshore Drive, in downtown St. Petersburg. This exciting annual event celebrates the great variety of cultures that reside within the Tampa Bay community.  

There will be a presentation by professional origami artist Ms. Kuniko Yamamoto at 11:40 a.m., as well as an address from Japan’s Cultural Attaché to Florida, Consul Irisawa Kenichiro.

Moreover, the Japanese community will have a booth offered by the Japan-America Society of Tampa Bay in collaboration with the Japanese Consulate featuring activities such as name writing and origami. The booth will also have Japanese snacks for sale and FREE Niponica magazines (Japan’s Official Cultural periodical) available.

The fair is organized every year by the St. Petersburg International Folk Fair Society (SPIFFS), which is also responsible for operating the St. Petersburg sister cities and friendship cities programs with Takamatsu, Japan; Figueres, Spain; Isla Mujeres, Mexico; and St. Petersburg, Russia.
