The Asian American Population in Florida

CENSUS 2010The Asian population increased more than four times faster than the total U.S. population. According to the 2010 Census, the Asian population grew by 46.5%, faster than any other race group in the United States between 2000 and 2010. The 2010 Census reported 308.7 million people in the United States, a 9.7 percent increase from the Census 2000 population
of 281.4 million. Of the total, 17.3 million, or 5.6%, people reported they were of Asian descent. This count included those who said they were both Asian alone (14.7 million) and Asian in combination with one or more additional races (2.6 million or 15%), of which well over half reported being Asian and White.

CENSUS 2010The Asian population in Florida grew fastest among other race groups.  In Florida, the 2010 Census counted 18,801,310 residents. Of the total population, there were 454,812, or 2.4%, people who reported Asian alone. An additional 118,271 people reported Asian in combination with one or more additional races. The total Asian alone or multiple-race population in Florida was 573,083. The Asian population experienced a 70.8% growth in FL since
2000, compared to 46.5% at the national level.
