A child asked his mother ‘Where is G-d?’
The mother didn’t know exactly how to answer so she said ‘G-d is in the air.’
‘In the air? So why it is so polluted everywhere?’ asked the son.
The mother got confused and said ‘well G-d is also in the ground’
‘Inside the ground? So G-d is buried under cities?’
Now, the mother got even more confused so she replied, ‘G-d is also fire’
‘Fire? You mean guns and weapon that kill people?’
The mother was frustrated, how to explain G-d? Every time, she tried to explain her son who is G-d and where he is, her son asked even more challenging questions.
Think of it, is this how you like your kids to see G-d?
Here is another scenario to the story:
A child asked his mother ‘Where is G-d?’
She didn’t know exactly how to answer so she said ‘G-d is in the air.’
‘Wow, the air’ said the son and took a deep breath as deep as he could and added, ‘so I want G-d to be inside me’.
The mother smiled to her child with satisfaction, and then he asked, ‘Where else?’
The mother thought for a while and said ‘well G-d is also in the ground’
‘Wow, in the ground’ said the son and then he took off his shows, and said ‘So I will walk the earth to feel G-d as long as I am alive.’
The mother started laughing with joy.
‘Where else mother?’
Now, the mother felt love and warmth so she replied, ‘G-d is also fire’
‘Fire? So G-d keeps us warm and safe and protects us. Now I understand, mother, G-d is everywhere. He is also water and satisfies our thirst and G-d is in the starry sky above us and mother, I know that G-d is even inside of me with every breath I take.’
The mother was proud. ‘G-d is everywhere. G-d is Love’ she said and kissed her son.
Think again, is this how you like your kids to see G-d?
