Amazon Smile: Asia Trend

Asia Trend Inc. is proud to announce the grand opening on Wednesday, November 5 of the Asia Trend Community Learning Center, a new resource facility located at Orlando Fashion Square, a founding sponsor of the center.

“Our primary goal is to be a resource for the fast-growing and evolving Asian community in Greater Orlando, in particular working with youth to offer cultural, service-learning and civic programs to develop community leaders of the future,” said Shally Wong, director of the new center.

The Center will work with groups within the Asian community to provide a range of intergenerational workshops on education and wellness; small group classes on the fine arts of calligraphy and origami, social club gatherings for music, Mah Jong lessons and tai chi; and social events and expos. Among those groups is Y.E.S.S. (Youth Enrichment and Senior Services), which is focused on providing academic enrichment and life skills to youth as well as providing counseling services and programs to enhance the quality of life of seniors. “We are excited to partner with Asia Trend for a center that will be a true intersection of culture in Orlando,” said Brian Small, general manager of Orlando Fashion Square, now under the ownership of UP Development LLC. “The mall’s relationship with the Asian community is rooted in the city’s history. Orlando Fashion Square opened in the 1970s just as the Asian community was taking hold at Mills Avenue and Colonial Drive.”

In addition to serving the Asian community, now more than 100,000 people in Central Florida, the center’s goal is to enhance the appreciation of cultural diversity and promote the inclusion of Asians in the broader community.
