On March 8th, the Consulate General of Japan in Miami hosted an event to celebrate the 62nd birthday of H. M. the Emperor of Japan for the first time in two years. Consulate General of Japan in Miami were honored to have over hundred guests attended. These included Mayor Daniella Levine Cava of Miami-Dade County, Mayor Vince Lago of Coral Gables, Director General Amino Chin Yao Chi of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Miami, Chairman Jose Pepe Diaz of Miami-Dade County and Commissioner Ken Russel of Miami City.
During the ceremony, a proclamation of The City of Coral Gables was presented by Mayor Lago to Consul General Nakai memorializing Feb. 23, 2022 as “EMPEROR NARUHITO DAY IN CORAL GABLES”. CG Nakai reaffirmed in his remarks the firmness and importance of Japan-U.S. friendship based on our shared values and expressed his hope to foster closer ties between Japan and the State of Florida.
