Tampa, Florida. Once again the Filipinos of Tampa Bay held their annual “SAMPAGUIATA BALL” now in its 26th year anniversary. This year’s chairmen were Vivian Furigay-Dudgeon and Maryann Branesky. The $100 per person red carpet event was once again full of glitters and glamour with Filipinos wearing their best of the best in jewelry, Philippine gowns called the “terno” popularized by Mrs. Imelda Marico’s and the men’s national shirt called the “Barong Tagalog” popularized and stylized by Pierre Cardin in the ‘70’s. The evening gave guests complimentary valet parking, deluxe open bar the whole night, a fabulous DJ and a Filipino live band. Entertainment this year was at always a spectacular production featuring the Philippine Bamboo Orchestra, Philippine Choral singers and dancers. No doubt, when the Filipinos organize events like this, it is guaranteed to be a night to remember.
