Over 320 players, majority coming from California, Illinois, Massachusetts and Washington are entered in 25 different events. The event features five age groups contesting boys and girls singles and boys, girls and mixed doubles. The U.S. Junior National Badminton Championships is the largest badminton tournament held in the United States. The championships have become a premier platform for up and coming junior players across the nation to showcase their talent and compete in a high exposure, top-tier competition.

Kelvin Chong, 11-year-old travelling with his dad Yong from San Jose, California is among the 325 junior players. “I play five days a week, two hours every day,” said Kelvin. Kelvin started playing badminton when he was eight. He loves the sport because the teammate’s encouragement.

This tournament, primarily taken place in California in last 10 years, is held in Orlando for the very first time. Thanks to ClearOne badminton CEO Darryl Yung who opened this center in 2012 with Badminton World Federation approved Olympic court surfaces. “Badminton needs to get into the school starting elementary so they can grow up knowing the sport,” said Darryl.
